Yeosu City to Recruit Applicants for 'Renewable Energy Convergence and Support'

Support for Solar Power and Solar Thermal Installation in Dolsan, Nam Myeon, Samsan, Gwangrim, and Chungmu Areas

Yeosu City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Jeong Gi-myeong) announced that it is recruiting applicants for the ‘2025 New and Renewable Energy Supply Convergence and Complex Support Project’ to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and alleviate the economic burden on citizens.

The ‘New and Renewable Energy Convergence and Complex Support’ project, a public offering by the Korea Energy Agency, involves installing solar power and solar thermal facilities in houses, public buildings, commercial buildings, and factories.

The support scale allows for 83% of the facility installation costs to be subsidized, with only 17% to be self-funded.

For example, the self-funded amount for a 3kW solar power facility costing about 5.7 million KRW is 1.4 million KRW, and for a 13.6㎡ residential solar thermal facility costing about 17.87 million KRW, the self-funded amount is also 1.4 million KRW.

With an expected average electricity bill reduction of 50,000 to 60,000 KRW upon installation, the payback period for the self-funded amount is 2 to 3 years, making this a project with high resident satisfaction.

Eligible applicants are building owners located in the areas of Dolsan-eup, Nam-myeon, Samsan-myeon, Gwangnim-dong, Chungmu-dong, Dongmun-dong, Hallyeo-dong, Jungang-dong, and Seogang-dong.

Applicants can apply at their local community service centers as follows: Hallyeo-dong, Dongmun-dong, and Jungang-dong from May 1 to 3; Chungmu-dong, Gwangnim-dong, and Seogang-dong from May 7 to 10; and Dolsan-eup, Nam-myeon, and Samsan-myeon from May 1 to 10.

After the final evaluation by the Korea Energy Agency, the project is scheduled to be implemented starting February 2025.

A city official stated, “This project aims to realize citizens’ energy welfare and contribute to creating an eco-friendly city, so we hope for active interest and participation from residents.”
