Senior and MZ Join Hands... CU Launches 'Shinyearmaket' Generation-Integrated Product

CU announced on the 1st that it will launch a generation-integrated product in collaboration with the social enterprise Arip & Weleep’s public interest brand 'Shin-You Market,' which supports marginalized elderly people. Shin-You Market is a brand that supports low-income and impoverished seniors in handwriting and drawing, and commercializes their works. The product planning is handled by the younger generation, while production and packaging are managed by the elderly.

The Shin-You Market products introduced by CU this time include a total of 15 items such as ready meals, noodles, gukbap (soup with rice), side dishes, snacks, banchan (Korean side dishes), desserts, and Makgeolli. The menus recommended by seniors were reinterpreted to suit the tastes of the MZ generation. The packaging was designed with product names, descriptions, and drawings handwritten by seniors.

To celebrate the product launch, CU is offering a 30% discount for payments made with Samsung and NH Nonghyup cards throughout May. On its own commerce app, 'Pocket CU,' there is also an event called 'Try Telling Grandma Once.' If you request counseling on Pocket CU, you can receive handwritten reply notes from seniors. This event brings the popular 'Shin-You Counseling Center' from the Shin-You Market pop-up store online.

Lee Eun-kwan, head of CU’s Strategic MD Team, said, "We expect that the collaboration with Shin-You Market will provide customers with a unique enjoyment and deliver a positive message of generation integration to our society."
