Gyeonggi Province held a kickoff briefing session for the feasibility study to promote the construction of the 'Gyeonggi-do Athletes' Village' on the 30th of last month.

Gyeonggi Province announced on the 1st that it held a kickoff meeting for the ‘Feasibility Study and Basic Plan Establishment Service for the Construction of Gyeonggi-do Athletes' Village’ on the 30th of last month.
The feasibility study and basic plan establishment service for the construction of the Gyeonggi-do Athletes' Village will be conducted over 10 months from April this year to February next year, and will be used as data for future investment reviews and detailed design.
Gyeonggi Province is promoting the construction of the Gyeonggi-do Athletes' Village with the goal of opening around 2030. To this end, the province allocated a budget for the feasibility study service for the Athletes' Village construction in this year's main budget. It is also conducting preliminary preparations such as benchmarking Daegu Metropolitan City and the National Athletes' Village.
Lee Jong-don, Director of the Gyeonggi Province Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau, said, "Securing sports infrastructure and establishing an advanced system befitting Gyeonggi Province’s status, which has produced top athletes and consecutive wins at the National Sports Festival, is a long-standing aspiration of local athletes. This will be an opportunity to consolidate dispersed training facilities and strengthen cooperation among sports organizations within the province, including the provincial government’s workplace sports teams, thereby enhancing synergy."
Meanwhile, the kickoff meeting was attended by related organizations and sports association officials, including Kim Taek-su, Secretary General of the Gyeonggi Province Sports Council, and Baek Kyung-yeol, Secretary General of the Gyeonggi Province Disabled Sports Council.
