Hyundai Wia announced on the 30th that its consolidated operating profit for the first quarter of this year increased by 17.3% year-on-year to 59.8 billion KRW.
During the same period, sales rose 2.2% from the previous year to 2.1416 trillion KRW. Net profit increased by 176.1% to 36.7 billion KRW.
By business segment, sales and operating profit in the mobility sector were 1.9821 trillion KRW and 53.8 billion KRW, respectively, marking increases of 1.8% and 18.8% compared to the same period last year.
Sales in the machine tool and special machinery sector grew by 8.0% to 159.5 billion KRW, and operating profit rose by 7.1% to 6.0 billion KRW.
Hyundai Wia explained that sales increased across all business areas, including vehicle parts, mobility solutions, and defense industry, leading to strong performance. Favorable exchange rate effects also contributed.
Specifically, four-wheel drive, constant velocity joints, and engine segments showed continuous strong performance, while sales in the mobility solutions sector, including collaborative and parking robots and factory automation, increased significantly.
A Hyundai Wia official said, "We expect both the mobility parts and solutions sectors to expand in scale this year," adding, "We also anticipate continued growth in defense exports."
