Jinju City Holds 'Garden Promotion and Garden Expo Basic Plan Service Report Meeting'

Direction Setting and Execution Plan Establishment for Creating a Differentiated Mountainous Garden

On the 29th, Jinju City in Gyeongnam held the 'Jinju Garden Promotion Basic Plan and Garden Expo Basic Plan Service Report Meeting' at the City Hall Citizen Hall to establish garden culture and promote the development of garden culture and industry.


At the report meeting, about 20 people including Mayor Jo Gyu-il of Jinju, related department heads, and experts attended to set the direction for establishing the garden promotion basic plan and the garden expo basic plan, and discussed detailed implementation measures.

Regarding the establishment of the garden promotion basic plan, based on the environmental analysis of Jinju City, a vision and policy tasks for garden promotion in Jinju were set, and in detail, the following were presented: ▲ Analysis of the current status and conditions of Jinju's garden culture and industry ▲ Establishment of standard model plans for various types of gardens ▲ Basic plan for agricultural gardens (landscape gardens) ▲ Differentiation measures for designation as a national garden ▲ Basic concept and phased plans for garden promotion ▲ Ideas for popularizing garden culture.


In addition, regarding the establishment of the garden expo basic plan, differentiated plans to enhance the branding of 'Garden Culture City Jinju' were presented, including ▲ Establishment of a five-year basic plan for domestic garden expos ▲ Strategies and basic concepts for attracting international garden expos ▲ Ideas for the theme and topics of the garden expo. Based on this report meeting, the project plan will be concretized.


Based on the contents of this report meeting, the city plans to increase citizens' interest in gardens and create a platform for spreading garden culture by building connectivity between Jinju's representative natural environment and surrounding garden tourism resources, and by setting directions and implementation plans for creating differentiated mountain-type gardens.


Mayor Jo Gyu-il said, "Our city has the task of creating a garden culture city differentiated from other regions by utilizing resources such as the natural environment including Namgang River, Jinyang Lake, and Wolasan Mountain, cultural and historical resources with a thousand-year history, entrepreneurial spirit, and the aerospace industry." He added, "We will create spaces where forests and gardens harmonize, improve citizens' quality of life, and newly develop the region's unique forest and garden culture that starts from traditional local culture and continues into the future."
