Customer Furious Over "No Takeout" Policy... Spills Food on Table and Leaves Without Paying

"Ran a Business for 8 Years, but This Time My Heart Is Broken"

A story has been shared about a customer who, after being told that takeout was not allowed due to the restaurant's policy, poured leftover food onto the table and then left without paying.

On the 29th, a post titled "Intentional food terrorism and dine-and-dash... It's tough" was uploaded to the self-employed community 'Because It's Painful, I'm a Boss.' A, who introduced himself as a self-employed person running a business for eight years, began by saying, "I've experienced many incidents and events over the past eight years, but this time I am so angry and upset that I felt compelled to write this."

A recalled, "One day, two men came to the store, so we guided them to a table and took their order for steamed alcohol (suljjim) and served the food." He continued, "After some time, the customers asked the staff to pack the suljjim to take away." However, since A's store sells fresh food, it does not offer delivery or takeout services due to the nature of the business. Although the staff explained the situation, the customers insisted on speaking to the owner. They kept demanding takeout, and eventually, the store agreed to pack the leftover food in a disposable bag.

The problem occurred next. While the staff briefly went inside the store to prepare the packaging, one customer deliberately poured the food onto the table. The other accompanying customer, upon seeing this, gathered his belongings and left without paying. These actions were fully captured on the store's closed-circuit television (CCTV).

A said, "I understood a few previous dine-and-dash incidents, thinking they might have been drunk or simply forgot, but this time it felt so humiliating and heartbreaking." He added, "Despite the economic downturn causing a clear drop in customers and rising prices, I stubbornly endured, hoping that providing better service and good food would improve things. But in an instant, my spirit collapsed." He criticized, "You smiled while carefully pouring all the food onto your clothes to avoid stains, then shook off your clothes and left. Your behavior felt shameful."

He lamented, "Are we your emotional punching bag or garbage bin? We are also someone's children, husbands, fathers, and family." He continued, "It's truly miserable, frustrating, and infuriating, yet I still have to smile at other good customers, which is very difficult." In conclusion, he said, "This is really unacceptable. If you see this post, please sincerely apologize. If you trample on and hurt people's feelings easily, it will come back to you."

Netizens who read the story responded with various comments such as, "Can't you press charges?", "Isn't this going too far? It's really annoying," "I can only sigh," "Stay strong," and "This is the worst kind of rude customer. My heart aches for the owner’s wounds."
