Looking at Instagram accounts related to 'Catch Cash' on the 30th, 42 'Catch Cash' challenge videos have been uploaded from the 10th to that day. The account owner, Mr. A, folds cash or gift certificates and hides them on the back of smile stickers, then sticks them in specific locations. The amounts vary from 1,000 won to 100,000 won. Meal vouchers and coupons are also used. Through the videos, Mr. A said that anyone who knows where the location is can find the sticker and take the cash.
This challenge, which started in Cheongju, Chungbuk, has spread nationwide to places such as Seoul, Suwon, Daegu, and Ulsan. The places where cash is hidden are also diverse, including utility poles, park benches, and observation deck railings. The difficulty level is indicated by the number of stars (1 to 5), and hints about the location are sometimes provided in the videos.
People have shown great interest in this new concept of 'treasure hunting.' A video uploaded on the 10th had nearly 13 million views as of that morning, and thousands of comments asked about the hidden money's location or requested the challenge to come to their area. Early on, some netizens suspected that the videos were just filmed and the stickers were removed, but with Mr. A's explanation that "both the person hiding and the person finding can enjoy it," and with numerous posts verifying that stickers were found, such suspicions have faded. Also, as the challenge gained popularity, similar accounts conducting the challenge only in specific regions have appeared. Some accounts have even used 'Catch Cash' for religious proselytizing, such as Christianity.

There was also a touching story. A child hospitalized in a hospital requested stickers to be put up because they were bored, and Mr. A promised through a video that he would definitely put stickers in the hospital but could not enter the cancer center. Instead, he personally delivered the gift with stickers attached. Mr. A added, "I hope the child recovers quickly and waits for the day they can remove the stickers on their own two feet."
Mr. A recently appeared on SBS's 'Morning Wide' and revealed the reason for starting this challenge. He said, "I closed my store and felt down, but one day while walking, I happened to see a smile sticker attached somewhere," adding, "Seeing the sticker gave me great strength." Mr. A explained, "I hope everyone can feel the happiness I felt through this sticker. If the sticker is just attached, no one pays attention, so I decided to hide money inside and stick it. I wanted those who find it to be happy."
