Kakao Entertainment announced on the 29th that it has launched a new artificial intelligence (AI) technology called 'Helix Curation' and applied it to KakaoPage. Helix Curation is a technology that optimizes the recommendation screen within the app by analyzing users' tastes and preferences through AI.
As a result, users accessing KakaoPage will encounter different home screens for works. Since the AI precisely shows only the works users want, the process of searching for new works can be reduced. Additionally, regardless of new releases, completed works, or popular titles, it recommends various intellectual properties (IP) owned by KakaoPage, thereby evenly highlighting creators' works and contributing to extending their lifecycle.
Kakao Entertainment also revealed the results of a pilot application of 'Helix Curation.' From February 6 to 22, for about two weeks, 40% of KakaoPage users were targeted, placing works recommended by 'Helix Curation' in 3 out of 6 thumbnails in the 'Hot Right Now' section of the webtoon/web novel tab. As a result, compared to the control group (20%) without 'Helix Curation,' the application group (20%) saw click-through rates (CTR) increase by 57% for webtoons and 227% for web novels, and transaction amounts increased by 90% and 61%, respectively.
'Helix Curation' will start with KakaoPage and plans to be introduced to Kakao Webtoon, Tapas, and others after review.
Kim Ki-beom, Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Kakao Entertainment, said, "We are developing AI technology in a way that best highlights creators' works," adding, "We will do our best to develop capabilities so that we can showcase differentiated AI technology in the industry."
