West Sea Coast Guard Cheong, 29 Youth Interns to Begin Coast Guard Duties from May

Prepared to Provide Opportunities for National Participation... Assigned to Frontline Coast Guard After Basic Training

The youth internship program at the Seohae Regional Coast Guard, established to provide domestic and international youth with practical experience in public institutions and opportunities to participate in national affairs, will begin on the 1st of next month.

The Seohae Regional Coast Guard (Commissioner Kim Inchang) announced on the 30th that, in accordance with the government-wide youth internship recruitment plan, 29 interns were selected and an orientation for the youth interns was held along with the collective signing of contracts on the 29th.

Interns hired as youth interns participated in an orientation held on the 29th at the West Sea Regional Office small conference room, where they received guidance on the schedule and other details.

Starting from the 1st of next month, these youth interns will participate in training courses at the Coast Guard Education Center located in Yeosu City, including education on the main duties of the Coast Guard, maritime rescue, and tours of Coast Guard patrol vessels.

Subsequently, they will be assigned to frontline Coast Guard stations including Seohae Regional Coast Guard, Gunsan, Buan, Mokpo, Yeosu, and Wando, where they will work as interns for a total of six months.

The Seohae Regional Coast Guard plans to provide maximum support so that these interns can gain sufficient job experience and professional knowledge in their desired career fields, and has decided to count the internship period towards seniority if the interns join the Coast Guard after completing the program.

Meanwhile, it was found that most applicants for this internship, which was conducted through document screening and interviews, were university students and graduates mainly from maritime-related departments.
