Yangcheon-gu Opens Advanced Course on Redevelopment and Reconstruction Maintenance Projects

Yangcheon-gu (Mayor Lee Gi-jae) announced that it will operate the ‘2024 Yangcheon-gu Urban Renewal Project Knowledge Forum’ from May to October for union executives and residents to strengthen expertise in urban renewal projects and prevent wasteful conflicts in advance, supporting the speedy promotion of projects.

The ‘Yangcheon-gu Urban Renewal Project Knowledge Forum’ was first introduced last year to satisfy residents' learning needs regarding urban renewal projects such as reconstruction and redevelopment, and to enhance the capabilities of project stakeholders in response to rapidly changing government policies and project methods. As a result of operating the forum in the first and second halves of the year, the number of participants exceeded three times the initially planned capacity, leading to an expansion in scale. A total of about 2,200 people attended 12 sessions, receiving enthusiastic responses.

This year’s forum is characterized by a differentiated approach with practical, in-depth courses focused on cost reduction and the selection of service providers by procedure, rather than basic introductory lectures. This reflects the active incorporation of last year’s survey results from actual attendees, and plans to thoroughly cover major issues in the urban renewal project field and the top concerns of union members through case-centered lectures.

Additionally, special lecture materials will be distributed for each session to facilitate review and reference for project promotion. Furthermore, linked with the ‘Visiting Urban Renewal Project Consulting’ initiative launched in March this year, experts in each field will visit urban renewal project sites to provide one-stop services from consultation to customized education and conflict mediation.

The forum will be held in a total of 8 sessions, 4 each in the first and second halves of the year, with about 200 participants per session. The first half sessions will be held every Tuesday evening from 7 PM for about 2 hours at Haenuri Hall in Haenuri Town from May 21 to June 11. Residents wishing to attend the first half sessions can apply by May 17 via QR code or by calling the Urban Development Promotion Team, and those who attend at least 3 sessions will receive a certificate of completion.

In the first half, the teaching staff, composed of leading companies in urban renewal project management and construction management (CM) as well as experts from organizations such as the Korea Real Estate Board, will cover topics including ▲dispute cases at each stage of urban renewal projects ▲methods for selecting service providers and practical reviews by stage ▲detailed verification of construction costs by work type and cost reduction measures ▲procedural precautions in urban renewal projects (advanced).

The district plans to post lecture videos containing key content from each session on its official YouTube channel ‘YangcheonTV’ in the future, helping more citizens access accurate urban renewal project information and strengthen project promotion capabilities. The second half sessions will start between September and October, with detailed schedules such as recruitment periods to be confirmed later.

Lee Gi-jae, Mayor of Yangcheon-gu, said, “While last year’s urban renewal forum was an introductory lecture, this year we have prepared practical, in-depth special lectures that project stakeholders can actually utilize.” He added, “We expect this forum, where carefully selected top instructors from various fields highlight the core knowledge of urban renewal projects, to provide essential momentum for urban renewal projects to get on track.”
