Two Women Filed Complaints with Investigators Earlier This Year
Indicted at the End of 2020 and Currently on Trial
France's national actor G?rard Depardieu was summoned by the police on the 29th (local time) on charges of sexually harassing film production staff.
According to AFP on the day, Depardieu is accused of groping a set designer's body and making obscene remarks on the set of the feature film 'Les Volets Verts' in September 2021. He is also accused of similarly molesting and harassing female staff on another film set in 2014.
AFP reported that two women claiming to be victims of sexual harassment filed complaints against Depardieu with the investigative authorities earlier this year.
Depardieu has been on trial since the end of 2020, charged with raping a woman in her 20s whom he knew personally at his home in Paris in August 2018. Following this, additional accusations of sexual violence by actresses against him have continued to emerge.
A documentary accusing Depardieu of misogyny and making obscene remarks during his visit to North Korea in 2018 aired on French public broadcasting in early December last year, sparking controversy. However, in an open letter sent to Le Figaro in October last year, he denied all allegations, stating, "I cannot acknowledge the stories surrounding me. I have never abused women."
