Elementary Student Returns in Wheelchair After Fourth Surgery... Surprise Party Moves Netizens

Elementary Student Returns to Classroom in Wheelchair
Surprised by Surprise Party, Shows Tears

A touching story has recently come to light about elementary school classmates throwing a surprise discharge party for a student who returned to school just one month after surgery. Recently, a video titled "I made a student cry" was uploaded on the YouTube channel 'Changyongssam Calligraphy Classroom.' As of the 29th, the video has nearly 300,000 views.

The video shows Lee Sua, a sixth grader at Nongsu Elementary School in Gimcheon-si, Gyeongbuk, returning to her classroom after a month. Sua had severely injured her leg and underwent four surgeries before coming back. However, her classmates did not greet her and were busy solving test problems. Riding in a wheelchair, Sua looked around and tried to smile.

At that moment, one student said, "I'm going to the restroom," and briefly left the classroom. The homeroom teacher followed the student outside. It turned out to be a surprise event planned by the teacher and classmates, and the two returned carrying a cake for Sua. Seeing the cake, Sua's eyes widened in surprise, and piano accompaniment began to play in the classroom. The classmates sang in unison, "You Were Born to Be Loved," and shouted, "Congratulations on your discharge, Sua." Eventually, Sua burst into tears she had been holding back.

The homeroom teacher said, "(Sua) had a hard time even having one surgery, but she had four. That’s the real hardship. When I broke my leg, I had one surgery," adding, "It was tough even once, but Sua went through that difficult surgery four times." The teacher continued, "Actually, (Sua) didn’t have to come to school today, but she really wanted to come," and urged, "So we need to take better care of her and help her more since she couldn’t come to school for a month."

Netizens who watched the video responded with comments such as, "In these days when there are many issues about teachers' rights, this warms my heart," "A teacher who cares for children. I support you," "The children who met such a good teacher are very lucky," "A classroom that teaches what attention, consideration, and love mean," and "I want to say you did well enduring the tough surgeries. Wishing Sua a speedy recovery."
