Gangnam-gu Signs Work Agreement with Ministry of Employment and Safety Health Agency to Prevent Serious Accidents

Gangnam-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Jo Seong-myeong) announced on the 29th that it signed a business agreement at the district office with the Seoul Gangnam Branch of the Ministry of Employment and Labor and the Seoul Metropolitan Headquarters of the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency to prevent serious accidents.

Since January 27, the Serious Accident Punishment Act has been expanded to apply to workplaces with 5 to fewer than 50 employees and construction sites with a construction amount of less than 5 billion KRW. Accordingly, the three organizations will jointly promote industrial accident prevention projects targeting small and medium-sized enterprises.

They plan to enhance the safety of workplaces in the district through ▲industrial accident prevention campaigns ▲support for professional instructors in safety and health education ▲safety and health consulting. After the signing ceremony, in the afternoon at the Cheongdam Lifelong Learning Center, professional instructors from the Ministry of Employment and Labor and the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency conducted training on establishing safety and health management systems for business owners and workers of small-scale workplaces with fewer than 50 employees.

Jo Seong-myeong, Mayor of Gangnam-gu, said, “Safety management corresponds to the social responsibility of ESG management, which Gangnam-gu has recently been focusing its capabilities on,” and added, “Through joint project promotion with the partner organizations, we will create a safe working environment for small and medium-sized enterprises and support ESG management.”
