Yeongyang County Health Center Announces Recruitment for the 1st Solo Walking Challenge Participants This Year

Anyone with a Smartphone Can Participate

Yeongyang-gun Public Health Center in Gyeongbuk is recruiting participants for the first session of the 2024 "Walking Alone Challenge" to promote a culture of healthy living throughout the local community.

Walking is a representative form of aerobic exercise that improves blood circulation, helping to prevent various diseases, reduce weight, and relieve stress, thereby aiding in the prevention of chronic diseases.

This Walking Alone Challenge is expected to help maintain the health of local residents through consistent walking practice and encourage participation across various age groups, ultimately improving the walking practice rate in Yeongyang-gun.

The registration period is from April 25 to May 3, and applicants can apply by visiting the health consultation office at the public health center. Basic health checkups before and after the challenge (from registration to challenge completion) will quantitatively assess individual health status and changes, allowing participants to confirm improvements resulting from lifestyle habits or walking practice.

Participants who achieve a goal of walking more than 5,000 steps per day and reach a total of 200,000 steps over two months through the mobile walking app Cashwalk will receive a small commemorative prize for completing the challenge.

Jang Yeo-jin, director of the public health center, stated, “I hope that participation in the Walking Alone Challenge will help local residents develop healthy lifestyle habits and serve as an opportunity to prevent chronic diseases and promote health.”
