Over 15,000 visitors flocked to the "National Bobusang Market with Wanju Farmers Market" held at Samnye Culture and Arts Village in Wanju-gun, Jeonbuk, creating a bustling scene. Although the event, held on the 27th and 28th, was postponed last week due to rain, it proceeded successfully with continuous foot traffic and unwavering support.
According to Wanju-gun on the 28th, the event brought together 22 Wanju Farmers Markets and over 60 Bobusang vendors from across the country, who sold fresh local foods and various handmade products such as clothing, beverages, household items, and miscellaneous goods directly produced by them, enjoying great popularity.

The event was jointly organized by the Wanju-gun Return-to-Farming and Return-to-Village Association and the Wanju Fruit Producers Cooperative, among others involved in the Wanju Farmers Market. It served as an opportunity to widely promote Wanju-gun’s fresh agricultural specialties, direct trade markets, and processed foods to visitors nationwide.
A Bobusang official stated, "During the two-day event, a 5,000 KRW discount was offered to the first 100 customers each day. Before sales began, an unusual sight was seen with lines exceeding 100 meters from the entrance of the Arts Village to the Cheongchun Workshop intersection."
The county ensured the event was safely operated by coordinating in advance with the Wanju Police Station, Wanju Fire Station, Wanju Autonomous Disaster Prevention Group, and Wanju Volunteers to control and guide traffic at congested points along with event staff.
Performances, exhibitions, and side events also captivated many visitors. Offering diverse content and performances, the event atmosphere was elevated.
Nearby, the Samnye Culture and Arts Village’s 1st Exhibition Hall hosted the exhibition "Western Masterpieces, Meeting the Gaze of the Masters (Vincent van Gogh)" featuring replica experience exhibits; the 3rd Exhibition Hall held a local artist open call exhibition (featuring artist Kim Gye-hyung); and the 4th Exhibition Hall showcased a craft contest exhibition with participation from Wanju-gun and Jeonbuk Province craft artists, adding cultural enjoyment for visitors.
At the Samnye Book Museum and Picture Book Art Museum, a flea market for used books and children’s toys was held, along with busking performances by the Wanju Living Culture Club.
Indoor performances included exciting art bus performances such as magic shows, bubble shows, traditional dances, as well as lively historical Nanta Madang plays and mini ensemble concerts. The side events filled the performance venues, providing visitors with a rich array of sights and entertainment.
Yoo Hee-tae, the mayor of Wanju-gun, said, "This event held together with the Wanju Farmers Market has brought more vitality to the Samnye Culture and Arts Village," adding, "We will strive to expand the cultural foundation and develop various promotion plans so that the Samnye area becomes known as a representative tourist hub of Wanju-gun."
