Public Parking Lot's 151 Women-Only Spaces Converted to Family-Friendly Parking
Consideration for Pregnant Women, Infants, Elderly, and Other Vulnerable Road Users
Geumcheon-gu (District Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) announced that it has converted the women-only parking spaces in 11 public parking lots into family-friendly parking spaces to accommodate various transportation-vulnerable groups.
Family-friendly parking spaces are parking areas that expand the eligibility of women-only parking spaces to include pregnant women, infants and young children, elderly people, and those who have difficulty moving in daily life or those accompanying them, in line with the aging and low birthrate era.
Last October, the district partially amended the "Seoul Special City Geumcheon-gu Parking Lot Installation and Management Ordinance" to establish the legal basis for installing family-friendly parking spaces.
Family-friendly parking spaces are installed in bright areas without blind spots and sections close to parking lot entrances, elevators, or stairs to ensure accessibility and safety. To make them easily recognizable upon entering the parking lot, the parking spaces are marked with a white background and flower-hued yellow solid lines, along with a "Family-Friendly Parking" illustration and text.
Yu Seong-hoon, Mayor of Geumcheon-gu, stated, "Through the creation of family-friendly parking spaces, we will promote a culture that respects and cares for transportation-vulnerable groups," and added, "We will continue to strive to ensure that residents can use public parking lots safely and conveniently."
