Opening of 'Nowon Carbon Neutrality Support Center'... District Mayor Oh Seung-rok Attends Opening Ceremony

On the 26th at 1 PM, Oh Seung-rok, Mayor of Nowon District, attended the opening ceremony of the 'Nowon Carbon Neutrality Support Center' held at Nowon Energy Zero Housing Commercial Area (97 Hangulbiseok-ro), Nowon-gu, Seoul.

Since being selected for the Ministry of Environment's public contest project last year, the district designated the 'Nowon Environmental Foundation' as the center's operating institution, hired carbon neutrality experts, and will begin operations from April.

The center is tasked with strengthening the district's carbon neutrality foundation and supporting public-private initiatives. Its main functions include policy support, resident participation and resource linkage, and region-specific research.

The opening ceremony was attended by about 30 people, including Mayor Oh Seung-rok, the chairman of the Environmental Foundation, members of the Carbon Neutrality Promotion Council, and local residents belonging to the 2050 Carbon Neutrality Residents Association. The event proceeded with participant introductions and guest greetings, speeches, presentation of the Carbon Neutrality Support Center plan, unveiling ceremony, and commemorative photo session.

Mayor Oh Seung-rok of Nowon District stated, “As the role of local governments in responding to the climate crisis is crucial, there is much for our district to do to lead as a carbon-neutral city. We will spare no support to ensure the center can fulfill its practical functions to advance the era of carbon neutrality.”
