LOT Polish Airlines Captain Successfully Proposes
Passengers Applaud and Cheer in Celebration
A commercial airplane pilot in flight proposed to his lover, who was a flight attendant on the same plane, through an in-flight announcement. The flight attendant was very surprised by the sudden proposal but accepted it, and the surprise event ended happily.
On the 24th (local time), Poland's national airline LOT posted a video of the proposal titled "Engaged in Flight!" on its official social media account. The man in the video is Konrad Hankro, the captain of flight LO3905 from Warsaw to Krakow. Nervously adjusting his uniform, he boarded the plane, then came out of the cockpit with an excited expression and looked at the passengers. Soon, he picked up the intercom for the in-flight announcement. Captain Hankro spoke into the phone, saying, "There is a very special person on this flight today," and added, "I hope that person hasn't noticed anything."

He continued, "Ladies and gentlemen, about a year and a half ago, I met the most wonderful person at this workplace who completely changed my life," and then addressed his lover. Captain Hankro knelt on one knee, holding a pre-prepared bouquet, and said, "You are the most precious to me. You are the realization of my greatest dream," then asked in a trembling voice, "So I have to ask you, will you marry me?"
Paula, Hankro’s lover and a flight attendant, who was at the back of the plane, quickly ran down the aisle and hugged Hankro. They shared kisses and hugs amid the applause and cheers of the passengers. Paula accepted Hankro’s proposal, saying, "Of course I will!" After the successful proposal, Hankro put a ring on Paula’s right finger. Paula, putting on the ring, muttered to herself, "I’m not sure if this is supposed to go on the right hand."
The couple’s proposal video has recorded nearly 350,000 views on Facebook as of the afternoon of the 26th, receiving 10,000 likes. People around the world left about 1,500 comments, congratulating them in advance on their marriage.
Meanwhile, there have been past cases where a commercial airplane pilot proposed to his flight attendant girlfriend. In 2018, John Emerson, the captain flying from Detroit to Oklahoma, proposed during a routine in-flight announcement along with a weather update. At that time, he said, "Today, which may have turbulence, is also a very special day for my girlfriend Lauren," and added, "I want to spend the rest of my life with Lauren." Lauren Gibbs, his girlfriend, accepted the surprise proposal. It was reported that Emerson had prepared the proposal three months in advance during the in-flight announcement, and Lauren said she never expected such an event because he was usually introverted and quiet. Their story became known worldwide, but the couple asked not to disclose the name of the airline they worked for.
