Seodaemun-gu to Host Children's Festival near Hongjecheon Cafe Waterfall on July 4-5

Seodaemun-gu, Seoul (Mayor Lee Seongheon) will hold the "14th Seodaemun-gu Children's Festival" on May 4th and 5th from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Cafe Pokpo Plaza near the district office and along the Hongjecheon Stream.

This festival attracts more than 20,000 participants annually, and this year, the area around "Cafe Pokpo," which has become a popular tourist spot in Seoul, will be reorganized and opened as a plaza for children, raising even greater expectations.

During the festival, 60 booths across four sections (Performance, Play, Experience, Food) will offer a variety of programs for children. In the "Performance Section," Taekwondo demonstrations, magic shows, bubble shows, and band performances will be held at different times over the two days.

In the "Play Section," children can enjoy various rides, ride an armored vehicle, experience being a police officer or firefighter, escape from a maze, take four-cut photo booth pictures, and play basketball, shooting, fishing, and mole-catching games.

The "Experience Section" features storytelling by the story bus Boongboongi, face painting, nail art, hair art, making animal candles, plaster air fresheners, paper insects, picture card frames, Taekwondo (kicking, breaking) and CPR experiences, adding to children's interest. All programs are free for the whole family to participate without prior registration. However, various food items are available for purchase.

Mayor Lee Seongheon said, "We expect this festival held at Seodaemun Hongje Waterfall and Cafe Pokpo, a healing spot in the city, to bring fun and joy to many children and families."

The Seodaemun-gu Children's Festival is hosted and organized by Seodaemun-gu Office and the Seoul Youth Filial Piety Volunteer Group, with support from the 56th Army Division, Seodaemun Police Station, Seodaemun Fire Station, and Woncheon Church. During the festival, the Cafe Pokpo parking lot will be used as part of the event venue, so visitors are advised to use public transportation. For more details about the festival, please contact the Seodaemun-gu Office Child and Youth Division.
