Vinhomes has announced the official opening of the newly launched mega commercial Vietnam Hanoi Ocean City Grand World K-Town (hereinafter, Ocean City K-Town) on the 26th.
Ocean City K-Town, which is about to officially open, differs from typical local theme towns by focusing on Korean brands and culture to create a unique shopping and cultural theme. It is a mega commercial complex town consisting of a total of 343 stores.
The town is divided into K-Legend and K-Street. K-Legend, composed of Korean-style buildings, is a Korean cultural complex street housing character companies and cultural content businesses such as Kakao Friends, hanbok rental shops, and instant photo studios. Additionally, K-Street is home to Korean food and beverage stores including Heaven Coffee, Photo Palette, Snow Island, and Grill No. 18.
With the official opening on the 26th, Ocean City will continuously host Korean culture-related events, including Korean food culture festivals and Korea-Vietnam cultural exchange festivals at K-Town.
According to an Ocean City official, “VinGroup’s investment and opening of K-Town is evidence of the high interest in Hallyu (Korean Wave) in Vietnam. It can be considered the largest and most luxurious commercial and service area in northern Vietnam and will become an important landmark for Vietnam’s economy and tourism.”
Mr. Park (68), a resident of Ocean City doing business in Vietnam, said, “The cost of living and expenses are lower than in Korea, making life stable. The convenience facilities established in the new city are similar to those in Korea, and various infrastructures such as the artificial beach and water park are applied, so I live here without any particular inconvenience. Especially, the Korean residential community and family-oriented community are well established, which is very satisfying.”
Since the full opening of Hanoi Grand World, the cumulative number of visitors to the main facilities, Venice and K-Town, has approached about 2 million. On average, about 30,000 people visit daily, with approximately 25,000 on weekdays and nearly 100,000 on weekends. Considering Hanoi’s population of 8.4 million, this means one in five Hanoi citizens has visited. Notably, more than half of the visitors are under 35 years old, gaining great popularity among the younger generation. In addition to K-Town, Grand World, which opened last year, recorded over 64,000 visitors on its opening day.
To celebrate the grand opening, an opening ceremony will be held today at Ocean City K-Town. The ceremony will be attended by Pham Thi Thu Hien, Deputy Director of Sales and Marketing at Vincom Retail, executives from related affiliates, senior Vietnamese government officials, the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Vietnam, and the Hanoi Korean Association.
