According to industry sources on the 26th, Samsung Electronics CEO No Tae-moon recently met with Google Vice President Rick Oster. Oster oversees Google's platform device business. On the previous day, Oster uploaded a photo with CEO No on the social networking service X (formerly Twitter), saying, "I had a deep conversation with TM (No Tae-moon)" and added, "Our partnership has grown stronger, and I am excited about our AI collaboration and the many opportunities ahead for both companies."

Samsung Electronics also retweeted Oster's post, stating, "We will continue to realize the vision of providing the best Android ecosystem together with Google and maintain our cooperation," and added, "Exciting changes are coming to the future of AI-based Galaxy and Android experiences."

As AI competition in the smartphone market intensifies, this meeting is expected to further solidify the AI collaboration between Samsung Electronics and Google.

The two are believed to have discussed a long-term roadmap for partnership and AI collaboration. In particular, it is highly likely that they discussed Google's generative AI 'Gemini Nano' version 2, which will be applied to the Galaxy S25 series scheduled for release next year.

Gemini Nano is a lightweight version of Google's self-developed 'Gemini,' expected to be efficient for on-device tasks such as smartphones and laptops. The Galaxy S24, released this year, also features the Gemini Nano function.

Earlier, on the 17th, Cho Cheol-min, Executive Director of Samsung Electronics' System LSI Division (Head of Mobile AP SW Development Team), attended the AI Semiconductor Forum and stated, "We have started discussions on how to implement Gemini Nano version 2, which supports multimodal (processing text, images, videos simultaneously), as on-device AI," and added, "We plan to discuss how to develop the next (Galaxy S25 series) generative AI."

Samsung Electronics has collaborated with Google since launching the Galaxy S smartphone equipped with the Android operating system in 2010. Since then, the two companies have strengthened cooperation in various fields, including mobile devices and software.

This year, Samsung Electronics' on-device AI smartphone 'Galaxy S24 series' was the first to feature the 'Circle to Search' function, developed in collaboration with Google.
