Seongnam City in Gyeonggi Province is undertaking maintenance of safety villages in seven neighborhoods within its jurisdiction.
The maintenance targets are the safety villages in seven neighborhoods that Seongnam City developed from 2014 until last year: Eunhaeng 2-dong, Seongnam-dong, Taepyeong 3-dong, Geumgwang 2-dong, Sangdaewon 3-dong, Taepyeong 2-dong, and Sujin 1-dong.
Seongnam City plans to complete landscaping planting work and painting work by the end of this month, followed by sequential facility repair work and electrical work in May.
In the Eunhaeng 2-dong safety village, Seongnam City thinned out withered flowering plants in the Anshim Maru garden and replanted spring and summer flowers so that residents can enjoy different colors of flowers according to the seasons.
For the Seongnam-dong and Taepyeong 3-dong safety villages, the city removed the aged vinyl sheets from sculptures and public design facilities installed at the back gates of Seongnam Girls' High School and Taepyeong Elementary School, respectively, and repaired them with durable paint coating to improve the deteriorated environment.
Maintenance and electrical work will also be carried out on public facilities in the remaining safety villages of Geumgwang 2-dong, Sangdaewon 3-dong, Taepyeong 2-dong, and Sujin 1-dong to focus on managing aging facilities.
A Seongnam City official stated, "Many of the safety villages developed over the past 10 years have aged, so continuous maintenance and management are essential," adding, "We plan to continuously inspect and manage them to provide residents with a safe and pleasant living environment."
