Yangcheon-gu Sinwol 2-dong's 4 Daycare Centers Selected as the 5th Seoul-type Moa Daycare Center

Yangcheon-gu (Mayor Lee Gi-jae) announced that the ‘Eoullim Community’ has been finally selected for the ‘2024 Seoul-type Moa Daycare Center Public Contest,’ and this year, Moa Daycare Centers will be expanded to a total of 20 daycare centers across 5 communities.

The ‘Seoul-type Moa Daycare Center’ is an integrated childcare model that groups 3 to 5 nearby public, private, and home daycare centers into one community to provide joint care.

By jointly planning and operating recruitment of children, use of teaching materials and educational tools, childcare, and field trip programs, it contributes to providing high-quality childcare services by eliminating childcare disparities and improving operational efficiency.

In particular, private and home daycare centers with fewer children can operate various childcare programs that were difficult to introduce due to cost and staffing issues, resulting in very high satisfaction among enrolled children and parents.

With the recent final selection of the ‘Eoullim Community (4 centers)’ in Sinwol 2-dong through the additional Seoul city contest, Yangcheon-gu’s Moa Daycare Centers will be expanded to a total of 20 daycare centers across 5 communities, including the existing ▲ Sinjeong 4-dong ‘Nori Community (3 centers)’ ▲ Sinjeong 1-3 dong ‘Sinjeong Community (4 centers)’ ▲ Sinwol 6-dong ‘Ieum Community (5 centers)’ ▲ Sinwol 7-dong ‘Sinwol Dahamkke Community (4 centers)’.

Once selected as a Moa Daycare Center, they receive financial support such as joint program development costs, operation council and teacher allowances, as well as support for overall community operations including sharing admission information, jointly implementing childcare programs, teacher meetings, and parent programs.

Additionally, the district plans to actively support the development of ‘community-linked programs’ reflecting the characteristics of each Moa Daycare Center community through childcare support center consulting and workshops, operation of director councils, and various resource connections.

Meanwhile, on May 2, at Yangcheon Park, a joint sports program called ‘One Heart Family Sports Day’ will be held with the participation of about 500 children and parents belonging to the ‘Sinjeong Community.’ By jointly hosting a sports competition that is difficult to organize at the small daycare center level, the event aims to foster a sense of community among children and support their healthy growth and development.

Lee Gi-jae, Mayor of Yangcheon-gu, said, “We are expanding the operation of Moa Daycare Centers, which contribute to eliminating childcare disparities through mutual growth and cooperation among daycare centers, to 5 communities and 20 centers this year. Just as the saying goes that it takes a whole village to raise a child, we will spare no support at the district level so that the know-how and ideas of each daycare center can meet and create a synergy effect in childcare.”
