Remodeling of Dilapidated Buildings to Sequentially Supply 40 Residential Units
On the 25th, Gongju City in Chungnam announced that it will invest a total project cost of 5.8 billion KRW, including 5.5 billion KRW from the local extinction response fund, to create 'Youth Shared Housing' in the old downtown area.
Last year, the city purchased six dilapidated buildings in the Jung-dong and Sanseong-dong areas and plans to convert them into housing preferred by young people, divided into studio-type, guesthouse-type, and officetel-type units.
The shared housing in the Jung-dong area is a building formerly used as a motel, with the first floor consisting of a parking lot and meeting room, and the second to fourth floors equipped with 11 bedrooms, a living room, kitchen, and bathroom, operated as a share house.
Residents are expected to move in starting at the end of this year, and customized shared housing for youth in four districts (a total of 40 units) will be operated sequentially until the end of next year.
Applicants will be recruited in advance 2 to 3 months before completion, and the monthly usage fee is 100,000 KRW according to the shared property management ordinance.
Eligible applicants are local residents aged between 18 and 45, and after residing for two years in the shared housing, they can extend their stay once for an additional two years.
Mayor Choi Won-cheol said, “Housing support policies are among the essential projects for youth,” adding, “We will continue to actively reflect the opinions of young people and do our best to ensure that they can enjoy a stable life in the region.”
