Velof, a global platform company specializing in game republishing, announced on the 25th that it has signed an intellectual property (IP) sales and purchase agreement for the game "Last Origin" with Studio Valkyrie.
This contract is part of Velof's future growth strategy, primarily aimed at expanding its business scope by acquiring the development and service rights of the mobile game "Last Origin" and securing new IP. Previously, Velof successfully re-released "Critica: Zero" in the global market after acquiring the original IP of the game "Critica" from Allm.
Studio Valkyrie, a subsidiary of LINE Games, has focused on mobile game development. It is known to domestic gamers as the developer and operator of the Korean and Japanese services of Last Origin. Velof has secured not only the IP of "Last Origin" but also the entire service rights, including the development team, for both domestic and global markets.
"Last Origin" is a turn-based strategy collection RPG game that combines sci-fi elements with bishoujo romance. It gained attention for its unique graphics and storytelling, quickly reaching number one in sales on One Store and ranking sixth in real-time sales on Google Play, receiving great love from fans. Even after more than a year of service, it reclaimed the number one sales position on One Store and built a strong fan community with over 100,000 official cafe members.
Velof expects that acquiring the "Last Origin" IP will strengthen the company's competitiveness and position within the gaming industry and promote revenue growth. By utilizing a proven IP to offer a wider variety of content, Velof anticipates securing future growth engines and competitiveness while providing fans with a richer service experience.
A Velof representative stated, "This contract will allow us to move beyond the existing RPG genre and pioneer new subculture genres to meet the diverse needs of users," adding, "We expect significant synergy effects from combining the IP power and development capabilities of 'Last Origin' with Velof's global service operation capabilities in Japan, China, and other regions."
