ENPLUS announced on the 25th that it has obtained usage approval for the secondary battery thermal management material ‘Silicon Foam (SF-310)’ from a battery manufacturer.
SF-310 is a product developed for electric vehicles (EVs) and will be supplied to a European final automaker. Last year, ENPLUS secured sole vendor approval for the energy storage system (ESS) silicon foam ‘SF-300’.
The silicon foam developed by ENPLUS is a key safety material mainly used in prismatic and cylindrical batteries. It suppresses sparks caused by gases emitted from the gas vent device (VENT) and helps prevent battery chain fires and explosion accidents.
It received the highest ‘V-0’ rating from the global safety certification organization ‘UL (Underwriters Laboratory),’ proving its differentiated excellence in flame retardancy. Since EV products are directly boarded by people, they require a higher level of quality and safety compared to ESS products.
As the leading company is expanding product supply mainly to European premium automakers, the company expects significant orders to be placed in the future. While Chinese batteries are rapidly increasing their market share by leveraging low prices, the company is targeting the premium market.
A company official stated, "ENPLUS silicon foam has obtained usage approval for EV applications following ESS use," adding, "This means that the product not only has excellent quality in terms of safety but also meets customer standards in large-scale mass production capability."
