Part 1 (Overview) focuses on analyzing the growth and evolution status of affective AI research, examining emotional well-being through affective AI, potential risks and solutions arising from the use of affective AI, and the social impact of empathy-based affective AI.

Part 2 (Technology) centers on emotional interaction technologies between humans and AI. Key topics include affective models and technologies for quantifying social emotions, EEG-based emotion recognition technology, and core technologies for developing affective robots.

Part 3 (Services) is organized around case studies of services utilizing affective AI. It introduces domestic and international examples of affective AI services, major application fields such as digital healthcare and edutech, and presents components of mobile affective AI along with data collection and algorithm development cases.

The final Part 4 (Industry) covers the competitiveness of the affective AI industry, regulatory frameworks, and measures to revitalize the industry. It discusses trends in the use of affective AI technology and industry, diagnosis of domestic affective AI industrial competitiveness, strategic response plans, and government perspectives on affective AI regulation and industry promotion.

Jung Hyun-tae, Principal Researcher at ETRI’s Human Augmentation Research Lab, said, “The book (Affective Artificial Intelligence) proactively predicts and presents the future changes in the era of affective AI that understands and interacts with human emotions and behaviors. It is significant in that it addresses future strategic directions from the perspectives of experts in technology, services, and industry.”

Meanwhile, the book "Affective Artificial Intelligence" was planned by ETRI’s Human Augmentation Research Lab and jointly authored by 13 experts from industry, academia, and research institutes in the field of affective AI, including KAIST, Chung-Ang University, Hanyang University, Sangmyung University, Sookmyung Women’s University, Seokyeong University, the National Information Society Agency, Emotionist Co., Ltd., and Disquare Co., Ltd.
