Selmate Issues Trend Report... Average Malicious Inventory Ratio in Shopping Malls 20.7% [Cellmate Shopping Mall Operation Trend Report]

The integrated shopping mall management solution ‘Selmate’ has published the ‘Selmate Shopping Mall Operation Trend Report,’ which analyzed the operational patterns of over 1,700 client shopping malls.

According to the report, the average proportion of deadstock held by shopping malls is 20.7%. It was found that out of 100 products held by a shopping mall, about 21 are deadstock items that have not received any orders or experienced any inbound or outbound movement for one year.

Here, ‘deadstock’ refers to inventory items that had no inbound or outbound activity throughout 2023 but still have at least one unit in stock.

Additionally, the ratio of actively selling products among registered items in shopping malls is 52.1%, indicating that only about half of the products are actually sold.

As of 2023, the average sales amount per shipment was 84,799 KRW for combined orders purchasing multiple products, while for single-item purchases, the average was 35,579 KRW.

A Selmate representative stated, “Looking at this, the proportion of combined shipments has decreased compared to the previous year, while the proportion of single-item shipments has increased. This is due to the impact of faster delivery, as delays caused by combined shipments can lead to cancellations. Therefore, combined orders are processed and shipped as single-item shipments for products that can be shipped first.”

Meanwhile, the ‘Shopping Mall Operation Management Trend Report,’ which contains essential information for managing shopping mall operations, is available for download on the Selmate website.
