Yoon Jae-ok, acting leader of the People Power Party, said on the 25th that regarding the Democratic Party's pressure to pass the 'Special Prosecutor Act on the Investigation Interference Allegations in the Case of Corporal Chae (hereinafter Chae Sang-byeong Special Prosecutor Act)', "At this point in time, the public needs to evaluate whether the issue is that serious."

After attending a forum hosted by the Yeouido Institute at the People Power Party's central office in Yeouido, Seoul, Yoon told reporters, "Recently, the Democratic Party seems to be completely fixated on the Chae Sang-byeong Special Prosecutor Act to the extent of being desperate."

He said, "The Chae Sang-byeong Special Prosecutor issue is still under investigation," adding, "The premise for a special prosecutor is when the investigation is insufficient or there are fairness issues with the results." He also repeated his negative stance on the passage of the special prosecutor law, saying, "Since the Democratic Party has proposed additional bills, that issue should be discussed between the two parties during the National Assembly floor negotiations."

Regarding the possibility that the Chae Sang-byeong Special Prosecutor Act might be a topic at the upcoming summit between President Yoon Seok-yeol and Democratic Party leader Lee Jae-myung, Yoon said, "At this point, what the public most expects from President Yoon and Leader Lee is bipartisan cooperation and resolving the difficulties of people's livelihoods," and added, "I hope they discuss the purpose and public expectations of holding the summit at this time." He continued, "Perhaps because the Democratic Party won the election, their messages seem too strong and harsh," and said, "Of course, the public expressed their will through the election, but I believe everyone is watching how the ruling and opposition parties act after the election."

In response to criticism that the reflection forum held that day was too late, coming two weeks after the general election, Yoon said, "Considering the procedures and time, it is being wrapped up quickly," and added, "You can evaluate it after it is concluded." Regarding the speculation that 'pro-Yoon' lawmaker Lee Cheol-gyu might become the next floor leader, he said, "The candidates for the position have not been decided yet," and "The elected members will decide who is suitable in this situation."
