100 Teams and 876 Participants in Team and Individual Competitions
Boseong-gun, Jeollanam-do announced that the '2nd Korea Sports Council President's National Jangsa Ssireum Tournament,' held at Beolgyo Sports Center from the 13th to the 19th for seven days, successfully concluded.
This tournament was hosted by the Korea Ssireum Association and organized by the Boseong-gun Sports Council and Boseong-gun Ssireum Association. A total of 876 participants from 100 teams competed, including 59 teams in the national elementary, middle, high school, university, and women's divisions across 7 weight classes in the professional ssireum team competition, and 41 teams in the individual competition.

In the individual competition, seven winners were selected by weight class. In the team competition, the final champions were ▲Elementary Division: Gyobang Elementary School ▲Middle School Division: Masan Middle School ▲High School Division: Hyeonil High School ▲University Division: Yeungnam University.
At the closing ceremony on the 19th, trophies and certificates were awarded to the high school division team final winners. All previous matches can be viewed on the YouTube channel 'SatbaTV.'
As a nationwide tournament, the National Jangsa Ssireum Tournament attracted many participants and spectators who stayed and dined in Boseong-gun, contributing to the revitalization of the local economy.
A Boseong-gun official stated, “It is meaningful to provide entertaining events to the residents through hosting the ssireum tournament. We will strive to attract more nationwide sports competitions through various sports marketing efforts to further stimulate the local economy.”
Meanwhile, during the tournament period, the live broadcast on the MBC Sports Plus (MBC SPORTS +) channel promoted the 47th Boseong Dahyang Festival, scheduled to be held from May 3 to 7, increasing the festival’s recognition.
