The Korea Mine Reclamation Corporation (KOMIR) announced on the 25th that it visited Darwin in the Northern Territory and Perth in Western Australia, regions rich in critical minerals, to promote cooperation in the critical minerals supply chain with Australia.
On the 18th, KOMIR President Hwang Gyu-yeon attended the 'Darwin Dialogue' held in Australia, where he discussed bilateral and multilateral cooperation with Australia, the United States, and Japan to expand and strengthen the critical minerals supply chain.
Additionally, under the accompaniment of Tim Watts, Deputy Secretary of the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, KOMIR signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on comprehensive cooperation in the critical minerals sector with the Northern Territory, agreeing to continuously collaborate on information exchange, investment opportunities, and exploring cooperation methods.
In Perth, Western Australia, a public-private joint business investigation team composed of the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA), Korea Development Bank, POSCO International, LX International, and LG Energy Solution met with local government, related agencies, and companies to discuss cooperation measures to expand the critical minerals supply chain.
President Hwang said, "Through this visit, we gained various investment information and opportunities for collaboration in Western Australia's critical minerals projects," adding, "We plan to further strengthen private sector support for securing critical minerals together with the government."
Meanwhile, this year's Australia public-private joint business investigation team marks its second iteration. The project began as part of the critical minerals securing strategy announced by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy in February last year to leap forward as a global leader in advanced industries.
