Two Elected Representatives Recommended for the Democratic Party Alliance's Civil Society Quota
Discussion on Joining Jogukdang, but Final Decision to Join Democratic Party
The United Political Citizens' Council, which was responsible for recommending the Democratic United Alliance's civil society quota, stated, "We will further develop the united politics that has taken its first step to achieve a regime change by the democratic, progressive, and reform forces and complete the Candlelight Revolution's mission." Elected representatives Kim Yoon and Seo Mi-hwa were recommended and elected as the civil society quota of the Democratic United Alliance.

Cho Sung-woo, the standing representative of the National Emergency Situation Council from the Citizens' Council, said at a press conference held at the National Assembly on the morning of the 25th, "We still hope for a more progressive third parliamentary negotiation group, but after careful consideration, the two elected representatives decided to remain in the Democratic United Alliance for effective legislative activities," adding, "The Democratic United Alliance decided to merge with the Democratic Party at the Supreme Council meeting on the 22nd." Although there was discussion about joining the National Innovation Party, which aimed to form a parliamentary negotiation group, they ultimately decided to stay in the Democratic United Alliance and transfer their party affiliation to the Democratic Party.
Kim Yoon, a former professor of Medical Management at Seoul National University College of Medicine, expressed his ambition to lead medical reform. At the press conference, he said, "To resolve the brinkmanship between the government and doctors, there must be strong legislative and policy implementation authority to negotiate with both the government and the medical community," and added, "The ruling party in the National Assembly must promote 'people-centered medical reform' as its party policy to overcome the current crisis." When asked by reporters about the medical reform tasks he wishes to accomplish within the Democratic Party after the conference, he replied, "I announced pledges five times while campaigning as a proportional representation candidate," and said, "I will work to reflect these in the Democratic Party's party policies."
Seo Mi-hwa, an individual with visual impairment and a long-time human rights activist, pledged to contribute to improving the rights of persons with disabilities. On the day, she emphasized, "I will do my best to ensure that disability rights legislation to open an era where persons with disabilities can move as citizens is promoted as a party policy of the Democratic Party," and added, "I will fulfill my mission to advocate for and represent the human rights of socially marginalized groups who are considered voiceless in society."
With this, the number of elected representatives in the Democratic Party reaches 171. The two parties plan to complete the merger process on the 2nd of next month, with the Democratic United Alliance being absorbed into the Democratic Party. The Democratic United Alliance is scheduled to proceed with the party member expulsion procedure for the merger with the Democratic Party around 11 a.m. on the same day. If the procedure proceeds without changes, they will also have the right to elect the floor leader of the Democratic Party on the 3rd of next month.
