On the 25th, SK Hynix stated in its Q1 earnings conference call that "memory inventory has been gradually decreasing since the second half of 2023 due to proactive production cuts by suppliers."
They added, "This year, the supply capacity for general memory is limited due to demand response for AI products such as High Bandwidth Memory (HBM)," and "Currently, customers are understood to be strategically managing inventory by considering their memory holding levels and the extent of demand improvement in the second half of the year."
They further explained, "Demand for inventory is expected to be limited until the first half of the year, but as customer build demand improves in the second half, the overall industry inventory levels are expected to normalize." They also said, "Our DRAM and NAND inventories have both decreased. Production expansion is focused only on leading-edge process products, and the depletion rate of legacy products, which currently hold a large portion of inventory, is accelerating. Inventory levels are expected to decline by the end of the year."
