Hyundai Motor Showcases High-Performance Electric Vehicles in China, Strengthens Collaboration with CATL

Hyundai to Participate in Beijing Motor Show on 25th
Showcasing Ioniq 5 N and New Santa Fe Models

Hyundai Motor Company unveiled the high-performance electric vehicle Ioniq 5 N at this year's Beijing Motor Show. The strategy is to differentiate the brand by leveraging high-performance electrification technology in China. Additionally, Hyundai is strengthening collaboration with local battery company CATL to respond to the Chinese eco-friendly vehicle (New Energy Vehicle, NEV) market.

On the 25th (local time), Hyundai showcased the Ioniq 5 N at the China International Exhibition Center Shunyi Hall during the '2024 Beijing International Motor Show.' The Ioniq 5 N is Hyundai's first electric vehicle under the high-performance N brand and represents the culmination of Hyundai's electrification technology.

Marking one year since the N brand's entry into China, Hyundai revealed the Ioniq 5 N in the world's largest electric vehicle market, China. By unveiling a high-performance electric vehicle symbolizing technological prowess, Hyundai aims to elevate its brand competitiveness to the next level. The company plans to launch this model in the Chinese market in the second half of this year.

Alongside this, Hyundai also introduced the new Santa Fe (local name: 5th generation Shengda) and Tucson (formerly Tusheng L) to the Chinese market for the first time. Since the launch of the China-local strategic compact SUV Mufasa in June last year, Hyundai plans to complete its SUV lineup with the Tucson and Santa Fe, aiming to meet the diverse demands of Chinese consumers.

Meanwhile, at the Beijing Hyundai booth during the motor show, Hyundai signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with CATL, the world's leading electric vehicle battery manufacturer, to respond to China's New Energy Vehicle (NEV) market and enhance electrification competitiveness within China. The signing ceremony was attended by Oh Ik-gyun, Vice President of Hyundai Motor Company; Ou Zhutao (?周), Deputy General Manager of Beijing Hyundai; and Zeng Yuqun (曾毓群), Chairman of CATL.

Vice President Oh stated, "We will strengthen collaboration with CATL, China's representative battery manufacturer, in developing localized EVs in China. Based on the combination of Hyundai's electrification technology and CATL's battery technology, we will secure high product competitiveness."
