President Yoon Suk-yeol stated on the 24th that he had "a great meeting in Seoul" with Klaus Werner Iohannis, the President of Romania, who is on an official visit to South Korea, and expressed his hope to "further strengthen the strategic partnership between the two countries."


On the same day, President Yoon posted in English on X (formerly Twitter), saying, "Cooperation between the two countries will bring future prosperity to all citizens of both nations," and added, "I hope President Iohannis's first visit to Korea will be memorable."


On the morning of the 23rd, President Yoon held a summit with President Iohannis at the Yongsan Presidential Office, discussing strategic cooperation measures between the two countries in defense industry and nuclear power development. This is President Iohannis's first visit to Korea since taking office in 2014.


During the meeting, the two leaders confirmed their commitment to cooperation in all areas, including politics and security, economic cooperation and investment, culture, education, and human exchange, through the adoption of the "Joint Statement on Strengthening the Strategic Partnership between the Republic of Korea and Romania."


President Iohannis's official visit will continue until the 25th and is accompanied by his spouse.
