Inha University opened its doors in April 1954 as Inha Institute of Technology. It took its first steps nurtured by the heartfelt donations of the Korean community in Hawaii, who overcame numerous hardships in a foreign land. To honor this, the university’s name was derived from the first syllables of Incheon and Hawaii.
Later, when the Hanjin Group acquired Inha Institute of Technology and it was elevated to a comprehensive university in 1972, the current framework of Inha University was established. As a comprehensive university, it has continuously developed and contributed to national progress by nurturing talents in various fields up to the present day.
President Jo said, "This year, marking the 70th anniversary of our founding, is a starting point for a new leap forward for Inha University. Based on the consensus of all Inha members, we have set a vision and slogan that embody our university’s identity, and established development directions and core strategies for a bright 100-year future."
He added, "We will strive to lead innovation in creative and convergence education and research through advanced and specialized management innovation and the establishment of multi-campuses, and to grow into a university that contributes to the development of the world and local communities."
