Exchange of Letter of Intent for Friendly Cooperation at Dongdaemun-gu Office on the 23rd... Expecting to Promote Exchange Projects for Mutual Development and Prosperity of Both Cities

Dongdaemun-gu, Seoul (Mayor Ilhyung Lee) announced on the 24th that it has exchanged a letter of intent for friendly exchange with Fulton County, Georgia, USA.

The exchange of the letter of intent took place on the 23rd at the Dongdaemun-gu Office Planning Situation Room, attended by Ilhyung Lee, Mayor of Dongdaemun-gu, and Robb Pitts, Chairman of Fulton County, Georgia, USA.

The main contents of the letter of intent for friendly exchange include ▲ cooperation for mutual development in the fields of administration, economy, cultural tourism, and education ▲ laying the foundation for expanding exchanges at the private sector level.

Both sides agreed to promote the signing of a “sister city agreement” between Dongdaemun-gu and one of the cities within Fulton County when conditions mature through exchange cooperation.

Fulton County, consisting of 15 cities including the major city of Atlanta, is the largest county in Georgia, USA, with an area of 1,383 km², about 98 times the area of Dongdaemun-gu (14.22 km²).

It is also known as an economic hub with famous companies such as CNN, Delta Air Lines, and Coca-Cola, as well as various technology industries, and about 150,000 Korean residents live there.

Robb Pitts, Chairman of Fulton County, said, “I believe the starting point of friendly cooperation is human exchange,” and added, “I hope that through continuous and active exchanges, we can build a relationship that positively influences each other.”

Ilhyung Lee, Mayor of Dongdaemun-gu, responded, “I hope that based on today’s connection, Dongdaemun-gu and Fulton County can establish a cooperative relationship for mutual growth.”
