Expanding Sharing Activities, Hands Delivering Health and Warmth
On the 24th, Ulleung-gun, Gyeongbuk, carried out the 'Meal Delivery Service for Low-Income Homebound Elderly with Mobility Difficulties' project.
They are preparing meals themselves to deliver food to low-income elderly people with mobility difficulties.
This project involves preparing side dishes on the fourth Wednesday of every month and delivering them directly to the homes of the elderly. Ulleung-gun has entrusted the Ulleung-gun Family Center to provide balanced meals to low-income homebound elderly living alone who are at risk of malnutrition, and to ensure their basic livelihood throughout the year.
Twenty-nine dedicated social workers, life support workers, and Ulleung Police Station staff carefully prepared four types of side dishes. They visited the homes of 60 elderly living alone who are recipients of customized care services for those aged 65 and older, shared meals, engaged in conversation, and checked if there were any difficulties.
The elderly beneficiaries expressed their gratitude for the county’s thoughtful care while receiving the carefully prepared side dishes.
Nam Han-gwon, the county governor, said, “We will continue to support local elderly so they can maintain a comfortable life in their later years,” and added, “We will strive to create a better Ulleung-gun with no welfare blind spots.”
