"Right-wing celebrities have no choice but to be scared"
"No contact from the party level even when supporting election campaigns"
Singer Kim Heung-guk, who campaigned in support of the People Power Party candidate in the 22nd general election, expressed his disappointment with the party.
On the 24th, Kim appeared on Channel A's radio show 'Political Signal' and said, "Whether it's the presidential election, general election, or local elections, left-wing entertainers come out fearlessly. I wonder what guarantees they have, but even so, they do all the advertisements and attend all the events." He added, "But right-wing entertainers, even from my perspective, can't help but be scared."
He continued, "No one guarantees anything for us," and expressed his disappointment, saying, "I risked my life campaigning, but there was no word of 'Thank you for your hard work' or 'Let's have a meal together'." He also said, "There has been no contact from the party at all," adding, "I'm not asking for a position. But shouldn't there be some sign of gratitude? Only then can many other right-wing entertainers come forward next time."
Regarding his statement on his YouTube channel that "Former People Power Party Emergency Committee Chairman Han Dong-hoon should achieve even greater things in the future," Kim said, "Since the election is over, I am going back to being a singer and entertainer, but it’s such a waste for him." He added, "I hope he does even better in the future. We all worked hard, but shouldn’t we have a drink of soju together?" The host then said, "Former Chairman Han can’t drink soju," to which Kim replied, "I can drink alone. It’s enough if I’m next to him."
Kim also spoke about his campaign support during the general election, saying, "I don’t know the exact details, but I went to almost every place that wanted me and contacted me," and added, "Looking back now, I think all the places I went to won."
To junior singer Ria (Kim Jae-won), who was elected as a member of the National Assembly under the Joseon Innovation Party, Kim said, "Regardless of party lines, once the people elect you and you wear the badge, you shouldn’t lean to one side," and added, "It’s understandable during elections, but I hope to see a political stance that serves the people of the Republic of Korea."
