Jangseong-gun Implements 'Special Act to End Dog Meat Consumption'... Task Force Operation

Jangseong-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 24th that it will receive operation reports and dog meat consumption termination implementation plans from individuals who raise dogs for consumption purposes or who slaughter, distribute, and sell them.

According to the recently promulgated "Special Act on the Termination of Raising, Slaughtering, and Distribution of Dogs for Consumption Purposes," the operation of facilities for raising, slaughtering, distributing, and selling dogs for consumption will be completely banned starting in 2027.


From now on, it is prohibited to raise new dogs for consumption or to additionally operate related facilities.


Existing dog farm owners and dog meat food service operators (such as general restaurants) must submit operation reports by July 7 and termination implementation plans by August 5, respectively.


If they fail to report within the deadline, they will be excluded from support for business continuation or closure and may be fined up to 3 million KRW.


A county official said, "We ask for active participation in reporting to avoid any disadvantages such as administrative sanctions."


Meanwhile, the county plans to hold inspection meetings with related departments at least once a month, centered on a dedicated task force led by the head of the Agriculture and Livestock Division, to continuously monitor the status of dog meat consumption termination.
