Feel the Architectural Aesthetics of Gyeongbokgung Palace from the 2nd Floor of Gyeonghoeru

Special Exhibition Program to Operate from the 8th of Next Month

An event to experience the architectural aesthetics of Gyeongbokgung Palace will be held at Gyeonghoeru, the largest wooden pavilion structure in Korea. The Cultural Heritage Administration's Palace and Royal Tombs Division announced on the 24th that a special viewing program touring Gyeonghoeru four times daily will be operated from next month 8th until October 31st.

Gyeonghoeru, a national treasure, is a large two-story pavilion building constructed on a pond northwest of Geunjeongjeon Hall. Banquets were held here during national celebrations or when foreign envoys visited. It was also used as a venue for state events such as rain prayers during severe droughts.

Participants in the special viewing can access the second floor, which is usually restricted. From there, visitors can enjoy a panoramic view of Gyeongbokgung Palace to the east and Inwangsan Mountain to the west. The interior decorations, simple yet luxurious, are also exquisite.

The viewing times are at 10 a.m., 11 a.m., 2 p.m., and 4 p.m. Guided tours last 30 to 40 minutes. However, the program is not held in July, the hottest month, nor on Tuesdays when Gyeongbokgung is closed, or on public holidays.
