Hapcheon-gun Re-designated Odosan Healing Forest as an Excellent Wellness Tourism Destination

Hapcheon-gun, Gyeongnam Province, announced on the 24th that Odosan Healing Forest, where healing and relaxation can be enjoyed together, has been re-designated as an excellent wellness tourism destination for 2024-2025 by the Korea Tourism Organization.

This re-designation of wellness tourism destinations was conducted by the Korea Tourism Organization to expand the base of domestic representative wellness tourism destinations and the wellness tourism industry. Among 64 recommended wellness tourism sites expiring in 2023 and 2024, 33 excellent wellness tourism destinations for 2024-2025 were re-designated through document and on-site evaluations based on content appropriateness and future development potential.

Hapcheon Odosan Healing Forest is located at an altitude of 1,134 meters on Odosan Mountain, alongside Odosan Natural Recreation Forest. It was designated as an excellent wellness tourism destination in 2020 with a theme of natural healing, equipped with outdoor experience facilities such as the Healing Forest Center, Forest House, and Healing Forest Trail. Forest healing instructors operate forest healing and thermal healing programs.

With various programs such as forest interpretation and tea therapy, about 7,000 visitors came in 2023, leading to its re-designation as an excellent wellness tourism destination.

Yoo Seong-gyeong, Director of Tourism Promotion Division, said, “Hapcheon-gun was selected as a K-Wellness City in 2021 for its beautiful and scenic nature, and is making great efforts in the wellness tourism sector.” He added, “We will continue to activate eco-tourism and forest tourism fields to maintain our reputation as a wellness city.”
