Yongin City Installs Information Display Boards at 76 Bus Stops

Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Selected for 'Metropolitan Bus Information System Construction'
Providing Starting Point Arrival Information through System Advancement

Yongin City in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 24th that it has installed bus information display boards (BIT) at 76 locations within the area, including the bus stop in front of Bojeong High School in Giheung District, to enhance convenience for citizens.

The bus information display boards are devices that broadcast the Bus Information System (BIS), providing real-time bus location, arrival times, congestion levels, and other operational information.

The newly installed bus information display boards are located at 29 stops including Dongmak bus stop in Namsa-eup, Cheoin District; 25 stops including Bojeong High School bus stop in Giheung District; and 22 stops including Gogi 2-ri and Yuwonji Entrance bus stops in Suji District.

The city selected the locations by comprehensively considering factors such as bus demand, frequency of bus operations, and public transportation dependency, focusing mainly on metropolitan routes connecting nearby cities.

For efficient management of each display board, the city established a virtualized server within the Yongin Advanced Transportation Center system and enhanced the operating program. As a result, it is now possible to provide related information at starting points or nearby stops where it was previously difficult to offer bus arrival information, such as Prujeong in Sanyang Village, Giheung District, Chodang Village 3rd Complex, and Chodang High School bus stops.

This installation of display boards follows the joint selection with Hwaseong City last year in the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport’s 'Metropolitan Bus Information System Construction Project' competition. The city invested a total of 1.4 billion KRW, including 400 million KRW in national funds and 1 billion KRW in city funds, for this project.

A city official stated, "We installed the display boards to provide convenient transportation information not only in urban areas but also in rural areas where bus dependency is high due to long intervals between buses," adding, "We will continue to strive to enhance the convenience of public transportation use by utilizing advanced transportation systems."
