Mobile dog play areas where dogs can run off-leash
On May 11, original 'Dog President' Professor Lee Woongjong to provide public pet etiquette education
Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) announced that it will operate a mobile dog playground called ‘Dongne Bangne Ttwieonolge’ where pet owners and their dogs can freely run and play together.
The dog playground will be held twice: on April 27 at Geumcheon Green Square and on May 11 at Geumcheon Sports Park.
As the number of pet owners has increased every year, there has been a steady demand for dog playgrounds. The mobile dog playground ‘Dongne Bangne Ttwieonolge’ was planned to temporarily satisfy pet owners’ needs before the permanent dog playground, scheduled to be installed in June by Geumcheon-gu, opens.
The mobile dog playground will provide a space where dogs can safely and joyfully run off-leash, along with a resting area for pet owners. It will be equipped with safety fences, sports equipment for dogs to pass through obstacles, sunshades, tables, and more.
The playground is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and operates on a same-day on-site registration basis. In addition to the mobile playground, there will be dog behavior correction counseling, walking education, agility sports experience where dogs pass through obstacles, and a dog sports day.
Especially on May 11 at 2 p.m., Professor Lee Woong-jong, the original ‘Gaetongryeong’ (Dog President), will participate in a special session to conduct ‘Public Etiquette Walking Education for Pets’ to promote health and happiness for both dogs and their owners.
The service is available to dogs and owners who have completed animal registration and rabies vaccination. For safety, the playground will be divided into spaces for small and medium-sized dogs and large dogs based on a shoulder height of 40 cm. The number of dogs allowed to enter simultaneously is limited to 20 per space.
Yu Seong-hoon, Mayor of Geumcheon-gu, said, “I hope pet owners and their dogs can freely run and play at the mobile dog playground,” and added, “We will continue to promote various animal welfare projects such as installing a permanent dog playground (June), operating a mobile dog playground in the second half of the year (scheduled for September), and holding a Pet Day festival (October) to foster a healthy pet culture.”
