High School and College Admission Information at a Glance... Yangcheon-gu to Host Career and Academic Fair from May 16 to 18

Yangcheon-gu (Mayor Lee Gi-jae) announced that it will hold the “High School & College Entrance Career and Academic Fair,” which provides one-stop career and academic planning strategies by experts in career and academic fields for students and parents nationwide, from May 16 to 18 for three days at the Yangcheon-gu Citizens Sports Center and Haenuri Town.

As part of the “Y Education Fair 2024,” this year’s “Career and Academic Fair” has expanded in scale reflecting last year’s enthusiastic response. It will be divided into three parts: the “High School Entrance Fair,” where information on 23 high schools nationwide can be viewed at a glance according to the high school selection system; the “Career and Academic Counseling Booths,” offering customized close consultations by topic from career strategy planning to study tips and entrance exam concerns; and the “College Entrance Explanation Sessions and Special Lectures,” featuring star instructors, entrance exam experts, and students who scored perfect scores on the CSAT as speakers.

On the first day, May 16, the “High School Entrance Fair” will feature “High School Counseling Booths” with participation from 15 local high schools, as well as four nationwide autonomous private high schools (Sangsan High School, Pohang Steel High School, Hana High School, Hyundai Cheongun High School) and two arts high schools (Deokwon Arts High School, Seoul Performing Arts High School). Teachers and current students will provide information on each school’s characteristics, actual school life, and curriculum changes following the introduction of the high school credit system all in one place. In particular, with the expansion of metropolitan-level school booths (6 booths) compared to last year, it is expected to broaden the choices for middle school students and parents preparing for high school entrance.

Additionally, on May 16 and 17, “School-specific Explanation Sessions” will be held with admission officers from each school. Thirteen high schools in the district, including autonomous private and specialized high schools such as Sangsan High School, Yongin Hankuk University of Foreign Studies High School, Hana High School, Daewon Foreign Language High School, and newcomers Pohang Steel High School, Hyundai Cheongun High School, and Seoul Performing Arts High School, will introduce key issues and admission procedures in a relay format.

On May 17, a “1:1 Customized Counseling Booth” will be set up to address concerns related to entrance exams, academic progression, and career paths. Current and former career and academic teachers from Seoul and professional consultants will participate in a total of 20 booths offering topic-specific consultations. For high school students, “Consultations on Early and Regular Admission Desired Universities (Entrance Exam Counseling)” will be provided, while for elementary and middle school students, “High School Entrance and High School Credit System Curriculum Planning (Academic Counseling)” and “Learning Methods and Career Planning According to Child’s Traits (Career Counseling)” will be offered. Through 30-minute in-depth consultations per person, the burden of entrance exam consulting will be reduced, supporting customized future planning that reflects students’ traits and aptitudes.

Moreover, on the same day, the “Y-Entrance Mentor Group,” composed of current students from prestigious domestic and international universities, will conduct group counseling. Participants can learn vivid tips from senior students on actual university life, department-specific information, and application strategies.

Also, common programs held on May 16 and 17 include a “Study Abroad Counseling Booth” featuring Education USA, the official study abroad counseling center under the U.S. Department of State, and IDP Education, the official IELTS organizer, as well as a “Seoul Run Promotion Booth” that comprehensively provides all information about Seoul Run mentoring and online lecture services.

On the final day, May 18, the event will conclude with a “College Entrance Explanation Session and Special Lecture” featuring invited speakers on the theme of entrance exams and career leadership, held at Haenuri Hall in Haenuri Town.

In the morning “College Entrance Explanation Session,” Lee Byung-hoon, a leading domestic education expert and author of “SKY Roadmap,” who has appeared on numerous broadcasts such as “Is Studying Money?” and “This Is Real Studying,” will reveal the core points and preparation know-how of the changing 2028 college entrance reform plan under the theme “2028 College Entrance Reform Plan and Response Strategies.”

Following this, a special program “Perfect CSAT Scorers Talk” for examinees will be held. Min Jun-hong, a perfect scorer on the 2018 CSAT (graduate of Seoul National University’s Department of Economics and currently attending Seoul National University Law School), and Song Young-jun, a perfect scorer on the 2020 CSAT (currently attending Seoul National University’s College of Liberal Studies), will share mind control methods and study habits under the themes of ▲finding one’s own motivation for studying and ▲tips for rapid score improvement (from last place to perfect CSAT scorer), opening an honest dialogue never seen before.

Finally, Choi Tae-sung, a star Korean history instructor affectionately known as “Big Star Teacher” and beloved by examinees, will deliver a “Career Leadership Special Lecture” titled “One Life, How Will You Live It?” This meaningful session will reflect on the meaning of life by looking at historical events and discuss ways to envision a progressive future together.

Lee Gi-jae, Mayor of Yangcheon-gu, said, “We are expanding the scale of the ‘Career and Academic Fair,’ which drew explosive responses last year by providing vivid information and study know-how from the education field in a one-stop manner. We have prepared a wide range of diverse programs covering elementary to high school students, so we hope families and parents take this valuable opportunity to systematically plan their children’s futures together.”
