Roadshows in LA on the 25th and Chicago on the 29th
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Tourism Organization held a 'K-Tourism Roadshow' on the 23rd (local time) at Cipriani in Manhattan, New York, to attract American visitors to Korea.
This roadshow was planned to strengthen cooperation with the U.S. travel industry and media in order to accelerate the recent increase in visits to Korea by Americans. Last year, the number of American visitors to Korea reached 1.08 million, recovering to a level exceeding 1.04 million in 2019, before the COVID-19 pandemic.
Seventeen domestic companies, including airlines, travel agencies, and tourism venture companies, participated in the New York K-Tourism Roadshow and held promotional consultations with local U.S. travel agencies.
The Korea Tourism Organization also awarded the Korea Tourism Award to Remote Lands, a luxury-specialized U.S. travel agency, and GTT Travel, an ethnic-specialized agency, recognizing their contributions to attracting visitors from the Americas and developing various K-Culture themed travel products.
Katherine Hill, CEO of Remote Lands, stated, "The number of bookings for Korea travel products in the first quarter of this year increased by more than 31% compared to the previous year," adding, "Thanks to the popularity of K-Culture, demand among American consumers for Korean travel products is greatly increasing, so we will develop more diverse themed travel products."
Jo Hee-jin, Director of International Marketing at the Korea Tourism Organization, said, "Amid the steady recovery of inbound tourism from the U.S., the recent popularity of K-Culture has diversified the composition of tourists from students to retirees," emphasizing, "The organization will contribute to creating new inbound demand by conducting comprehensive marketing such as developing related themed products, attracting student groups, and promoting high-quality tourism products targeting seniors by leveraging the U.S. K-Culture boom."
Meanwhile, the Korea Tourism Organization will also hold K-Tourism Roadshows in Los Angeles (LA) on the 25th and in Chicago on the 29th.
