Independent Candidate Kennedy Jr: "US Budget Will Be Managed Through Blockchain"

"Make Budget Items Accessible to All Citizens"
Declaration to Accept Donations and Sponsorships in Cryptocurrency

Robert F. Kennedy Jr., running as an independent candidate in the upcoming U.S. presidential election this November, announced plans to manage the entire U.S. government budget transparently by putting it on the blockchain.

According to The Hill's report on the 22nd (local time), Kennedy Jr. stated at a campaign event in Michigan the day before, "We will put the entire U.S. budget on the blockchain," adding, "This will allow every citizen to view every budget item 24 hours a day." Blockchain is a data tampering prevention technology that stores data to be managed in a distributed data storage environment called 'blocks,' making it impossible for anyone to arbitrarily modify the data while allowing anyone to access it.

He also pointed out past cases of budget waste in the U.S. Department of Defense, saying, "With 300 million eyes watching our budget, incidents like spending $16,000 on a single toilet will never happen again."

The Hill explained that Kennedy Jr.'s remarks relate to media revelations that in the 1980s, the U.S. Department of Defense paid $640 per toilet and in 2018 spent $10,000 per toilet seat replacement.

Kennedy Jr. also emphasized that he is the only cryptocurrency-friendly candidate in this election. Last year, he declared at a Bitcoin event held in Miami that he would accept donations in cryptocurrency. However, he has expressed opposition to the issuance of central bank digital currencies (CBDCs) by the Federal Reserve, the central bank.

According to a poll conducted by PBS and Marist between the 16th and 18th (local time) surveying 1,047 registered voters, Kennedy Jr. recorded a support rate of 14%. President Biden received 43%, and former President Trump received 38%. Notably, Kennedy Jr. appears to be drawing more votes away from former President Trump.

Meanwhile, according to the global cryptocurrency market tracking site CoinMarketCap, as of 3:55 PM on the 23rd (Korean time), the price of Bitcoin is trading at $66,393, up 0.05% compared to the previous day.
