Gumi City in Gyeongbuk will operate the "Sweet Romantic Night Market" twice a week on Fridays and Saturdays from April 26 to June 22 at Gumi Saemaeul Central Market and the Dongmun Shopping District on Jungang-ro to revitalize the old downtown and traditional markets.

To differentiate from other night markets, professors from Gumi University participated from the vendor recruitment stage, conducting food tastings, menu demonstrations, cooking methods, hygiene, and customer service training for 24 businesses.

Through this process, unique menus such as Dak Odol Gui (spicy grilled chicken cartilage), Hwangbok Twigim (fried pufferfish), Hawaiian steak, and Jipbul sausage grill, along with 12 diverse flea market products including diffusers, children's hairpins, handmade candles, and jade crafts, are waiting for visitors.

Regarding this night market, a hashtag event is being held, and visitors who participate will receive free trial events on a first-come, first-served basis.

Every Saturday, activities such as acorn caricature experiences, which have recently become a hot place in Yeonnam-dong, personal color diagnosis to find the color that best suits one’s skin tone, and a retro photo studio that instantly prints black-and-white photos on receipt paper will be available.

Additionally, every Friday offers diverse and unique experiences such as face painting, making paper cup LED mood lights, flower bracelets, and plaster air fresheners.

On the second day of the opening, April 27, a celebratory performance will be held at the north gate of Saemaeul Central Market featuring singers such as Park Hyun-bin, Jung Da-kyung, Apple Tree, and Vista. The weekly busking stages will further enhance the night market’s excitement with performances by singers spanning multiple generations.

Mayor Kim Jang-ho said, “We have prepared new nighttime attractions for citizens to enjoy in order to revive the old downtown and stimulate the local economy,” adding, “We hope families and couples create joyful memories at the photo zones and become ‘insiders’ by capturing them in photos.”
