Changwon Special City Hall Workplace Sports Team Shines with Athlete Performance at Provincial Sports Festival

Changwon Special City, Gyeongnam Province announced on the 23rd that the Changwon Special City athletes achieved abundant results at the ‘63rd Gyeongsangnam-do Residents Sports Festival’ held in the Miryang area.

The Changwon Special City athletes, based on excellent infrastructure including high school, university, and city hall workplace sports teams selected within the jurisdiction, formed the largest team in the province with 701 athletes and 339 officials and coaches, totaling 1,040 members participating in 34 events. Among them, the Changwon City Hall workplace sports team had 54 participants in 7 events.


Although the overall ranking was not tabulated or announced, the Changwon Special City athletes ranked first with outstanding results in the city division. By event, they won first place in 14 events including athletics, second place in 8 events including baseball and softball, and third place in 6 events including table tennis.


Among them, the Changwon City Hall workplace sports team achieved excellent results in ▲ Ssireum (3 first-place winners) ▲ Men’s wrestling (6 first-place winners) ▲ Kendo (men’s general division team event 1st place) ▲ Bowling (women’s general division team event 1st place) ▲ Tennis (men’s and women’s team events each 1st place) ▲ Shooting (air pistol and trap team events each 1st place, individual events with 3 first-place winners, 2 second-place winners, and 2 third-place winners) ▲ Athletics (7 individual first-place winners, 2 second-place winners, 4 third-place winners), (4 mixed first-place winners), (5 first-place relay teams, 2 second-place relay teams).


Athletes Kim Seoyun and Han Yesol of the Changwon City Hall workplace sports team’s athletics division each won five crowns, and especially Kim, who set a new tournament record in the 400m, was honored with the ‘Most Valuable Player Award.’


Hong Nampyo, Mayor of Changwon Special City, said, “I send infinite encouragement to the Changwon Special City athletes who represented Changwon Special City and showed wonderful performances,” and added, “I deeply thank them for fully demonstrating their skills through the sweat they have shed so far and instilling pride in our citizens.”
