Hong Ik-pyo, floor leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, said, "President Yoon Seok-yeol accepting the special investigation law for the fallen Marine without delay is the beginning of change."

At the floor strategy meeting held at the National Assembly on the morning of the 23rd, Floor Leader Hong said, "Those responsible, including former division commander Lim Seong-geun, are denying the charges and avoiding responsibility," adding, "The truth must be revealed through a special prosecutor, and if necessary, through a parliamentary audit." He also mentioned, "Lieutenant Colonel Lee, who was investigated by the police, said that former division commander Lim Seong-geun pushed for an unreasonable search," and "However, former commander Lim denied such facts and shifted the responsibility to his subordinates."

He said, "Lee Si-won, the Secretary for Public Discipline at the Presidential Office, has again appeared at the center of external pressure on the investigation (of the fallen Marine case)," and "Even before the investigation, it must be revealed whose orders he received and what was discussed during the calls." He continued, "There have been problems with this secretary since his appointment," and "He is responsible for the Seoul city government official espionage case." Furthermore, he stated, "This secretary should either resign voluntarily or be dismissed by the president first and then be investigated." This statement was based on reports that the secretary had phone conversations with Yoo Jae-eun, the Legal Affairs Officer of the Ministry of National Defense.

Floor Leader Hong said, "The most responsible attitude for President Yoon to heed public opinion is not to change the prime minister or the chief of staff," and "He himself, who has run the government with arrogance and self-righteousness, must change." He added, "If the president and the ruling party do not cooperate in passing the special investigation law for the fallen Marine, it will be a direct defiance of the will of the people expressed in this general election and will face greater national judgment," emphasizing this point.
